Setting

Welcome to Premier Esprit, a country founded four thousand years ago by the first Suzerain, Eidolon. It is the most powerful country in the world with sovereignty over several other nations and is divided into eight regions: Tristesse, Bonheur, Crainte, Colère, Étonnement, Dégoût, Confiance, and Excitation. The capital city is Éthéré Coeur (French for Ethereal Heart).

Towns in Premier Esprit are protected by barriers from heartless, phantom-like creatures called Phases. Each barrier is powered by a huge cylinder known as the Solenoid. Only Résonateurs can pay the service to obtain a new Solenoid.

Gavril of Nostalgie (French for Nostalgia) - Having the blood of a foreigner always made Gavril an outcast in her village, Nostalgie, but that same blood is that of a Résonateur, one who is gifted the with ability to wield their emotions like weapons. Now that the Solenoid charging the village's barrier is on the verge of dying, that blood proves to be the most valuable bargaining chip for the town's future. Unfortunately, Gavril may have landed herself in more trouble than she ever dreamed when she is caught speaking with a Phase.

Commandant Serein of Calme (French for Calm) - a high-ranking Résonateur and the man sent to escort Gavril to the capital, Éthéré Coeur, to be judged by the almighty Suzerain for heresy. A man who values the power of the heart. Can he help Gavril free hers?
